ExperienceI currently tutor students in general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biology at the high school and college level, including advanced subjects, e.g. microbiology, cell biology.
As a graduate student, I taught two 3-hour labs each week as part of the Introductory Biology course for biology majors and pre-health students at TCU. I have also taught upper-level labs for advanced courses, including general microbiology. While following the same syllabus as other instructors, I designed my own pre-lab lectures, administer and grade quizzes and exams, and hold weekly office hours to help students in a more individualized setting.
I have experience tutoring high school students in preparation for Advanced Placement examinations as well.
My own AP exam scores:
English Literature: 5
English Language and Comp.: 4
Latin: Vergil: 5
Latin Literature: 5
U.S. History: 4
U.S. Government: 5
I worked as a research fellow through the American Society for Microbiology and hold an M.S. in molecular biology from Texas Christian University. My research studies focus on antibiotic resistance mechanisms in gram-positive pathogens.
Relevant Coursework: Cell Biology, General Microbiology, Medical Microbiology, Virology, Immunology, Genetics, Genomics, Mammalian Physiology, General, Organic, and Biochemistry, Biostatistics, Evolutionary Medicine
HobbiesI am a first year medical student at Texas A&M, an alumnus of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at TCU as well as a weekly volunteer at the Mercy Clinic, an indigent clinic that provides basic medical care to underserved communities.
When not teaching, tutoring, studying, or in the research lab, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our one-year-old daughter and going to the movies.
