Private tutor in Fort Worth, TX
Education
Elon University - BA, International Relations
Experience
I graduated from Elon University with a degree in international relations, focusing primarily on Latin America. Through my university program, I was privileged enough to be able to travel to seven different countries, which gave me insight into various cultures. When I graduated university, I began teaching English as a second language to high school students in Arizona. During this time, I also co-started an educational, non-profit organization focused on tutoring students from underprivileged backgrounds.I then moved to Texas and started working at a community college, helping students prepare and adjust to college life. I also worked as a substitute teacher and received a certification to teach sixth grade as a bilingual teacher. I now have three years' experience teaching public school, where I have taught language arts in both English and Spanish.I have been tutoring since I was a teenager, where I helped my peers improve their Spanish, mathematics, and test taking skills. I am a calm and patient tutor who works hard to establish connections with all of my students. Through excellent rapport and proper listening, I am able to understand what their goals are and how they learn. When I introduce new and difficult concepts, I try to find a way to incorporate them into my students' prior world knowledge. I believe that education serves the purpose of helping us understand the world around us.I am able to tutor algebra, elementary and middle school mathematics, English, reading, writing, and social studies. I also teach Spanish, which is the first language of my family.
