ExperienceI have worked as an instructor for introductory English and Writing courses for many years. As a graduate student, I gained experience tutoring through the campus Athletic Department. I would help students who had missed a day of classes, tutoring them in the classes they required. I also assisted with papers and assessed learning. As a tutor, I have found this method to be invaluable within the classroom. During workshops, I would have students trade their papers with each other so that they were able to learn to spot mistakes commonly made but often overlooked in their own work. I am able to tutor in a variety of subjects, namely English and Social Studies. Specifically, I can assist students in Reading, Writing, Literature (American, British, and Shakespeare), Grammar and Mechanics, Literary Analysis, and History (European and African-American). I have experience with helping students in AP courses as well as those preparing for the COMPASS exams. When I am tutoring writing, I work with the students from start to finish until they are happy with what they are writing. One of the most difficult aspects of being a writer is knowing where to start, and I am happy to be your guide in this process. I love writing, and I love teaching! In my personal time, when I'm not reading, I enjoy being involved in my community.
